VQ’s Monthly News – June 2024

June has been a massive month for VQ, having the opportunity to showcase VQ Conference Manager to everyone at Cisco Live in Las Vegas.

This month, we share a new blog covering how you migrate from VQ Conference Manager 3.x to 4.x and prepare for our next major release webinar.

  • Cisco Live US retrospective
  • Our upcoming webinar on VQCM 4.4
  • New blog on the migration path to VQCM 3.x to 4.x
  • Our recent appearance at Cisco’s UK Public Sector Summit
  • A word from the VQ Team

Cisco Live US 2024 was a landmark event for VQ, with more bookings than ever before for our meeting rooms and a huge amount of traffic to our stand in the Collaboration Village.

One of the biggest highlights of Cisco Live is always having the opportunity to meet face to face with members of the VQ community. Throughout the week, it was great to sync up with many old and new faces, prospective and existing customers, partners and our Cisco colleagues.

Metro, our new end-user app had a great showing at the event, with lots of interest. DMA also continued to make waves as the Cisco-endorsed successor to TMS, as we roll out more highly requested functionality, including both CMS branding and device branding files with File Server.

Another highlight of the week, which can’t go without a mention, was Elton John, who put on a fantastic performance at the Allegiant Stadium on Wednesday night for the Cisco Live celebration.

At Cisco Live, we also had the first opportunity to demo VQ Conference Manager 4.4 to a wider audience, with it being very well received.

Don’t worry if you didn’t get to see 4.4 in action at Cisco Live – we’ll be hosting a release webinar on July 10th showcasing the latest update to VQCM, including:

  • CUCM Connector
  • Device Firmware (RoomOS) Deployment
  • File Server
    • CMS branding files
    • Device branding files
    • Customer content storage
  • M356 Connector and (VQ) Hybrid Calendar
  • OBTP2 addition of Webex and Teams (CVI) invitations
  • Metro enhancements and new clients

Support for CentOS, which underpins VQCM 3.x, will end on June 30th 2024. As a result of this, there will be no more major releases to the 3.x platform.

To access the latest updates to VQCM, DMA and Metro, users will need to migrate to our 4.x platform. You can begin this free process by emailing support@vqcomms.com.

We cover the details of this migration journey in our new blog.

With VQCM 4.4, we’re introducing the next enhancements to Metro  including downloads for iOS and Android*.

The VQ Team have attended various workshops and virtual training events with our partners at Cisco over the last few weeks.

In mid-June, we had the opportunity to present VQ’s conferencing solutions for one of Cisco’s virtual partner events. Joel Price and Ben Douglas in our sales team also attended the Cisco Public Sector Summer Summit FY24 in Tewkesbury.

Joel shared his thoughts on the event:

“Cisco invited VQ to attend the Cisco UK Public Sector (PS) event. The event had over 60 Cisco employees in attendance, including Cisco’s UK PS Managing Director and upper Management Team.

“The day focused on enabling discussions on the latest trends and innovations in public sector technology and how Cisco can generate more business during their new Financial Year, which starts in August. The event presented a fantastic business opportunity for VQ to promote our solution.

“VQ Communications was mentioned several times by the Cisco Management Team during their own presentations as being a great ecosystem partner to have more engagement with. This reinforces, yet again, how Cisco sees VQ as a great solution for their customer base and together we can generate yet more business in the collaboration space.”

Tamsen, VQ’s Quality Analyst, shared some thoughts on her first few months with the team:

“I wanted to share a bit about my experiences and insights as the first Quality Analyst at VQ. It’s been exciting, challenging, and at times, a whirlwind adventure.

My role is to ensure that we deliver a top-notch product to our customers with every release, which means ensuring there has been comprehensive testing across all departments: Infrastructure, Core, and UI.

Being part of the product planning meetings has been particularly enlightening. It’s a fantastic way to get a sneak peek at the upcoming work and to discuss how quality and testing fit into the bigger picture.

My colleagues have been incredibly supportive. They’ve taken time out to explain how various parts of the system work and how they interact with one another. This team spirit has been invaluable and much appreciated.

As I continue this journey, I’m looking forward to the many challenges and learning opportunities ahead.

A message to the VQ team – thank you all for your support and patience.”
