In depth:New features in VQ Conference Manager 4.10
Nutanix Support
With many organizations seeking VMware alternatives, VQ Conference Manager 4.10 officially supports Nutanix. Upgrade to move forward with your enterprise virtualization plans.
Full product high-availability with sub-60s failover
Our enhanced high-availability, with fully automatic sub-60-second failover, has been massively popular, particularly with customers running mission-critical conferencing services.
We’ve extended high-availability to include Device Management and Automation (DMA), meaning the full VQ Conference Manager product suite now offers this enterprise-class resilience.
Better still, existing high-availability customers get this enhanced capability at no extra cost. Simply upgrade to version 4.10 to benefit.
Deeper integration between device and conference management
A growing proportion of our customers uses VQ Conference Manager to run their conferencing services (using Meeting Services) and Cisco collaboration devices (in DMA).
Customers tell us they love the efficiency of handling both in the same platform, especially the syncing of in-room devices between DMA and Meeting Services. And in response to customer feedback, we’ve further enhanced this integration. A highlight for administrators will be the elimination of various manual steps from the One Button to Push (OBTP) setup process.
Further enhancements to Outlook integration – including TMS XE-style room-only bookings
When you schedule a video conference using VQ Conference Manager’s Outlook plug-in, and include a physical room containing Cisco collaboration equipment, your meeting appears on the device and Room Navigator display calendars.
But what happens when you book a meeting via Outlook, in a room with Cisco equipment, without an associated videoconference? Historically, these bookings wouldn’t show on the in-room equipment, leading people to think a room is free when it isn’t.
VQ Conference Manager 4.10 fills this gap. Our Outlook plug-in now supports room-only bookings, just like TMS XE used to. Simply add a room to any meeting invite, with or without a video conference, and the booking will show up on the displays. No more turning up to booked rooms to find them occupied.
Elsewhere, end users planning video conferences in Outlook can assign any available meeting role to invitees.
Remotely execute xAPI commands on Cisco in-room collaboration devices
In the same way you can carry out custom tasks on in-room devices by tapping macro or RoomOS web app buttons on the display, you can now do the same remotely by executing xAPI commands via VQ Conference Manager DMA, without the need for a template.
Create custom actions for individual or groups of devices, and allow remote administrators, technicians, or operators to run them from anywhere.
Use cases include organizations offering premium white-glove services, where operators must currently go to a room to press the necessary buttons on a device to put it into the correct call. Doing this remotely via DMA enables you to offer concierge-style service much more efficiently and at greater scale.
Alert threshold configuration improvements
One of the most powerful capabilities of our Analytics platform is the ability for administrators to get early warnings of issues that may impact conference quality or reliability. Based off customer feedback, we’re making some improvements to the way you set up alert thresholds, with more to come in future releases.
License management platform brings transparency and control
A brand-new licensing engine for VQ Conference Manager gives complete control and visibility over your license position. See at-a-glance what licenses you own, which parts of the product they cover, and their expiry dates.
This will be a game-changer for teams responsible for compliance, increasing service ROI, and budget-planning.
Building for the future with performance, scalability, and security improvements
Lastly, as with every new release, we’ve made a variety of future-focused enhancements to VQ Conference Manager. These safeguard the long-term scalability and security of our customers’ Cisco-based conferencing services, and lay the groundwork for forthcoming functionality, including in areas such as AI.
