What comes after Cisco TMS and the future of sovereign collaboration
This month, we’re exploring some of the biggest conversations shaping the future of collaboration infrastructure. The VQ Communications’ team has been featured in a lot of industry discussions over the past few weeks off the back of Cisco Live Las Vegas, covering everything from the approaching Cisco TMS end of life and what comes next, to growing concerns around data sovereignty.
Here’s what’s new in June…
Cisco TMS: What are your options?
With Cisco TelePresence Management Suite (TMS) reaching end of support in January 2027, many organizations are now evaluating their next steps.
In a recent interview with UC Today, our CEO, Giles Adams, discussed the challenges facing organizations still relying on TMS, the role of Webex Control Hub, and why some customers require a different path forward.
The discussion explored:
- What Cisco TMS end of life means in practice for enterprises
- Why some environments require a self-hosted, air-gapped and sovereign alternative
- Why analytics, automation and device management are now priorities for organizations
This is a helpful overview of the options available, whether you’re a Cisco partner or an organization planning your migration strategy.

Where is your call data stored?
Many organizations focus on where their data is stored.
Far fewer consider who controls the systems managing that data.
VQ Communications recently delved into the Control Plane Paradox – the growing disconnect between infrastructure sovereignty and control plane sovereignty.
Organizations need greater control over their communications environments, so understanding who manages the underlying platform is becoming just as important as where the data resides.
Our article explores this further, covering:
- The difference between data sovereignty and control sovereignty
- The hidden risks of externally managed control planes
- Why governments and regulated industries are reassessing collaboration architecture
- What organizations should consider when evaluating sovereign communications strategies

On the road with Cisco
It’s been a busy few weeks for the team, connecting with partners and customers alongside Cisco.

This week, we joined Cisco’s Partner Virtual Training (PVT), sharing how VQ Conference Manager helps organizations simplify and enhance their collaboration environments while delivering greater visibility and control.
Meanwhile, Giles Adams and Ahmed Sousa recently took part in Cisco’s government roadshow in Cairo and Johannesburg, discussing the growing importance of sovereign collaboration solutions globally.
Thank you to Cisco for your continued partnership and everyone who joined us at these events! We’re looking forward to continuing the conversations around the future of sovereign collaboration.
When the cloud goes down, what happens to your communications?
Recent global outages and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty have highlighted a growing challenge for organizations: what happens when critical communications platforms become unavailable?
In a recent UC Today article, Giles Adams shared his perspective on why resilience is becoming just as important as functionality when selecting collaboration platforms.
The article explores how organizations are reassessing cloud dependency and the need for greater operational control over communications infrastructure.
As communications become increasingly critical to decision-making, resilience is moving from an IT consideration to a board-level concern.
How sovereignty is reshaping communications decisions
Data sovereignty continues to influence technology decisions across government, defense, critical infrastructure, and regulated industries.
In a recent industry feature, Giles Adams joined other experts to discuss how GDPR, digital sovereignty requirements and increasing scrutiny over cloud infrastructure are changing how organizations evaluate communications platforms.
